MATH TEST FRIDAY MAY 8TH

We are going to be wrapping our unit on perimetre and area on Friday. The students have learned how to use formulas to determine the perimetre and area of various shapes. We have also been converting between metric units, for example converting metres to centimetres and square metres to other units squared.

FOCUS FOR GRADE 5'S

  • convert from one metric unit to another
  • find the area and perimetre of rectangles, squares
  • find the area and perimetre of non-standard shapes (hexagons, triangles etc)
  • find perimetre using grid paper and also with a ruler
  • several word problems involving finding area and perimetre (find examples in their show what you know section, as well in their textbook.
FOCUS FOR GRADE 6'S

  •  convert from one metric unit to another
  • convert from one metric unit to another metric unit when the metric units are squared (as in describing area of a shape)
  • find area of triangles, parralellograms and rectangles --should know the formulas for each of those shapes
  • find perimetre using grid paper and also with a ruler
  • several word problems involving finding area and perimetre
