We have been working with identifying attributes of geometric shapes. Most students are proficient at naming a variety of shapes. Where they usually run into trouble is when we have to classify and sort shapes according to their attributes. We look at attributes like side lengths, number and types of angles and parallel lines. I have two examples of the anchor charts that are up in the classroom for the students to use as reference guides. Along with the anchor charts in the room, we also have a math strategies book that we put in all our math strategies for each unit. You may have seen a red booklet come home with them when they have math homework to complete, that's their math strategies booklet. The students are allowed to use their strategies booklet and the anchor chart when they have a test or work to complete. In the new year we will be working on measurement and probability.
Now I have some homework for parents and kids to do over the holidays and into January. PLEASE start working on multiplication math facts. The best way to do this is to complete a Fact Family for each number. For example:

2 x 3 = 6 then 2 x 4= 8
3 x 2 = 6 4 x 2= 8
6➗ 2= 3 8➗2= 4
6➗3= 2 8➗4= 2
By the end of grade 3 they should be able to know their multiplication facts up to 9 x 9 and the corresponding division facts. A little every day will go a long way.
