Multiplication is a MUST!

Before the start of each math class we usually complete 10 minutes of mental math. We explore strategies to quickly manipulate numbers in our head to add and subtract. This builds math fluency and automaticity, which are both key skills. We are starting a unit on multiplication today and I can't stress enough how important it is that students practice their multiplication skills daily. Do it together, buy some flash cards at the dollar store, get  deck of cards and play multiplication war--the key is that they practice daily.
