We are off to Guestwood for our Grade 6 V.I.P. trip. I just want to remind everyone that we will be outside all day and we need to dress for the weather.
YOU WILL NEED:
RUNNING SHOES (for inside activities)
BOOTS (GOING TO BE MUDDY)
SUNSCREEN AND MOSQUITO REPELLENT
HAT
PLENTY TO DRINK AND LUNCH
I HATE WET FEET, SO I'M BRINGING AN EXTRA PAIR OF SOCKS
AND MOST IMPORTANTLY-----A GOOD ATTITUDE!!!
There will be absolutely no horseplay tolerated on this trip. It is a fun, hands-on day with lots of activities. If kids are off-task and not listening to instruction then that's when accidents happen. Kids will be taken out of activities and sent back to the bus(with supervision) if we feel they are a danger to themselves or others.
Thank you

Hot off the presses!! Election Today
The grade 5 students did their democratic duty today. We have been learning about the Provincial Election. Today our election officers checked our voters in and they voted for their favorite Windsor West candidate. Stay tuned for results in the next few days. We will see how our voters compared to the rest of Windsor West voters Friday morning.

Discovering the 'math'
Went to a workshop recently presented by Dan Meyer. He advocates stepping away from the text book and engaging students with open ended 'real life ' problems. Our board has also been promoting a more hands on and 'discovery' based math experience for our students. The junior teachers were just recently trained on this type of approach. Well we've been playing around with this and today I heard a comment that made me stop dead!! I presented a video (Dan Meyer type problem) and one of the kids said--'sir, where's the math?'. That did it for me!! They framed the problem, asked questions about missing information and moved toward a solution. I will be posting a link soon with some examples of the types if problems.
