Grandparent Fun Day!!
Thank you to all the grandparents that took time to be with us today. It's nice to put faces to names of family members. Check out the pictures below of our fun board game afternoon.
MOTION GEOMETRY
We will be starting a unit on Motion Geometry early next week. Motion Geometry involves the specific movement of geometric shapes. We use language like TRANSLATIONS (SLIDE). ROTATIONS (TURNS) AND REFLECTIONS (FLIPS). We will be stressing that the students use the proper vocabulary and terms to describe the translations, rotations and reflections. There are a few videos below that will help them get ready for the unit. As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me at the school or add a comment at the bottom of the blog post.
Check out this video below that shows students the real-world applications of motion geometry and the skills required to bring our imaginations to life.

PERIMETER AND AREA
I'm posting a couple of you tube videos to help the students get a different perspective on perimeter and area. I encourage you to watch the videos with your child. Students seem to find these short videos engaging and entertaining. The nice thing about the videos is that they can be paused at any point, giving students some control over the pace of the instruction.
GRADE 3 SCIENCE TEST
The grade 3's will have their science test Wednesday or Thursday next week. Check the agenda on Tuesday for the exact day. We are completing a review in the classroom together that they can use to help them study, along with their other notes during the unit. They should also be reading over page 38 and 39 in their textbook for additional review information. Along with the test, the grade 3's will be using what they've learned in this unit to create a stable structure that incorporates the key elements in the unit.

SWIM TO SURVIVE DATES
Hello to all our St.John family. I just want to remind parents that our Swim to Survive dates are April 6th, 12th and 13th. There was a mistake on the school calendar that went home yesterday. Please replace the April 14th date that is on the paper calendar. The students will need a towel and bathing suit on those dates. The bus will pick us up at about 12:30 and we should be back by 2:30.
